Teletandem e o ensino e aprendizagem de PLE: o papel dos educadores
Abstract
This study discusses the role of educators in the context of the use of telecollaborative resources in Portuguese as a foreign language (PFL) classrooms. This discussion is based on teletandem sessions that took place in 2017 among learners of PFL located in the United States and native speakers of Portuguese located in Brazil. Considering the PFL instructor’s personal narrative as an autoethnographic record of this experience, this study challenges traditional approaches to the teaching and learning process in view of the different ways of teaching and learning that have been gaining ground due to the countless possibilities brought by new information and communication technologies, especially the tools used for virtual exchange. This study reinforces the idea that the use of technological resources that facilitate the communication and collaboration among foreign language learners and native speakers is related to not only a restructuring of the notions of time and space and an increase of learners’ autonomy, but also a redefinition of the sociocultural and institutional roles played by all the individuals involved in the teaching and learning process.
