Currículo e identidade cultural: algumas notas a propósito da ilha do Príncipe

Abstract

This study presents a reflection on the principal cultural manifestations of Príncipe Island and their significance in the construction of Principean identity processes. Surveys were carried out with teachers and educational administrators regarding the role of humanities education and the contribution of a specific literary corpus in the construction of cultural identity. The research demonstrated that the inhabitants of Príncipe positively validate a literary corpus oriented towards themes related to the past prior to independence and wish to deepen content with greater relevance to contemporary regional culture, acknowledging that literature plays a decisive role in the creation of cultural identity.
